Each day, you make choices. These choices change every day, but the decisions you make about your lifestyle remain the same. These decisions were widely shared after it became apparent that your lifestyle is a major factor in your health and well-being.
What is the Best Lifestyle?
While you have the right to choose whether to smoke, drink, not exercise or eat processed foods, there is enough information to make it clear that you should be careful. There are better options available. It is possible to ask yourself, “What is your ideal lifestyle?” This could be a life-changing question.
Let’s say you are already making good choices regarding diet and exercise. This assumption is a huge one, as education and age have major impacts on these areas. About half of all adults aged 30 and under engage in vigorous exercise. This number drops with each decade, and reaches a low level for those over 70. Let’s assume that you live a healthy life. We will also add that you meditate often and maybe even practice yoga regularly. While such lifestyles can be very beneficial, the key to a great lifestyle has yet to be discovered. Statistics fail to show that there are some trends in modern secular society that hinder true, lasting well-being. They are not pleasant to read and include:
Stress levels are increasing
- A faster pace for living
- There are many distractions, including TV, the internet, social media and video games.
- Dementia and aging at an increasing rate
- More countries are being affected by rampant consumerism
- Traditional families are being dispersed and crumbled
- An epidemic of depression and anxiety
- Global issues such as climate change and terrorism and refugeeism
- Trust in politics and public institutions has collapsed
- There is a runaway gap between the rich and the poor
These problems are not going away. They are something you hear about every day. They are inevitable and impossible to fix. If you try to tackle every issue on this list, it can overwhelm your life. You can dedicate every waking moment to dealing with issues like malaria in Africa, rural America’s opiate addiction, suicide among veterans, and the looming threat of Alzheimer’s. The problem for the average person is that they are impossible to ignore or escape. These trends create a backdrop of disturbing chaos. To be unaffected, you can’t put your head too deep in the sand. Even the most well-informed diet, exercise, meditation, or Yoga program will not offer a complete solution.
Get into a “Meta” Lifestyle By Waking Up
That in mind, I created a new book Metahuman. It takes its title from the Greek term “meta” which means “beyond.” My goal was to create a lifestyle that will bring you long-lasting happiness in today’s chaotic world. It might surprise you to learn that this lifestyle is not spiritual. I deliberately avoided using the term spiritual in the book. A “meta” lifestyle is the best way to live a spiritual lifestyle. The best lifestyle can be summarized in one phrase: waking. Living such a lifestyle means you are able to get beyond the daily routines you follow, the secondhand opinions and beliefs you hold on to, the stories you believe in, and the agenda of your ego. Waking up is about evolution and higher consciousness. It’s about the infinite potential of every human being.
Each problem is mind-made. It is possible to find yourself stuck at a level in your consciousness that causes chaos and confusion, or even worse, adds to them. You may be trapped in a virtual reality that is restricted by your consciousness. Literally, you may take the illusion, dream, or spell you see as reality. The real reality is deeper within you, at the source pure consciousness that is the field full of infinite possibilities. The modern secular society can be described as the best virtual reality. You can literally spend your entire life on your computer. Modern life is the ultimate trap. Nothing on the list can be solved. There is an alternative. Modern life offers so many choices that it is the ideal setting for escape from the illusion.
The True Solution is to Evolve to a Higher Consciousness
Metahuman was I’m referring to the second perspective. This is because it is clear that higher consciousness, or waking up, is the only way to solve any problem. You have two options when trying to solve a problem: you can struggle at the root of the problem which can be frustrating or you can choose to live from the awareness level where there are infinite possibilities through the infinite power and consciousness. This level of awareness is real and accessible to everyone. Although I’m only giving a glimpse of what waking up means, I want to emphasize that it is possible to have the best lifestyle. You don’t have to sacrifice anything in your current life. Waking up can help you achieve more fulfillment. The real issue is to make the decision that you are going to wake up. This is the first step towards a future that works, not a past that defeats.
